CAD Control Systems, a leader in the development, design, and manufacturing of BOP Control Systems, is seeking a skilled, motivated, and dependable Field Service Technician to join our team based out of our facility in Broussard, LA. This individual will provide services to our client base to install, repair and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic control systems on a 24-hour call basis. Work may be performed onshore and offshore domestically and/or internationally.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Works under the supervision of Service Manager or Service Supervisor to provide service to client base to install, repair and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic systems. Provide recommendations to clients for system upgrades based on changing operational environment. Maintain and provide for the safe operation of BOP Control Systems and High-Pressure Test Systems and provide recommendations to client representatives on equipment suitability. Provide system analysis while performing repairs to forecast potential problems. Perform basic diagnostics, service, repairs, and maintenance work on customer and/or company owned equipment. Maintain accurate inventory for service trucks to enhance capabilities, protect company resources, and maximize profitability. Provide thorough and accurate documentation for each service call performed. Perform calibration of instruments/pressure gauges in house or at customer’s location. Assist Engineering and Manufacturing in FAT processes prior to shipment. Conduct installation and commissioning of equipment in the field. Assists with in-house service of products as well as customer support. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in Industrial Electronics Technology preferred. One (1) to two (2) years’ experience in the oil and gas service industry. Must have strong general mechanical skills and understanding of how equipment operates. Must have ability to identify components and their operations, as well as faulty components prior to use. Must be able to identify, troubleshoot, and correct mechanical issues. Must be able to perform work in-house or in-field (domestic and/or international locations) with minimum supervision. Ability to read and interpret schematics, calculations, and drawings. Knowledge of the current industry standards such as API 16D and STD 53. Knowledge of troubleshooting and diagnosing problems such as faulty products, leaks, etc. and ability to repair problems and/or forecast future issues. Microsoft office experience preferred. Must have valid driver’s license and clear MVR. Position requires participation in drug testing consortium. Must have ability to travel domestically and internationally, and ability to secure a U.S. Passport.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND CONDITIONS
Environment:
Work may be performed in the field (onshore and offshore) and/or in an indoor ventilated shop environment, although frequent visits in an outdoor environment must be made with occasional/moderate exposure to fumes, mists, odors, dust, gases, oil, grease, dirt, poor lighting, mechanical and electrical hazards, welding flashes, burns, accumulated fluid, and all types of weather and temperature conditions including high humidity.
Physical:
Primary functions require physical ability and mobility to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; to frequently sit, crawl, turn, twist, bend, kneel, crouch, balance, grasp, feel, handle, and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; to occasionally climb on ladders or stairs; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight; to operate assigned equipment and vehicles. This position may work in confined spaces, cramped quarters, and at heights, with occasional exposure to pinch points and moving objects. This position requires constant eye-hand coordination and foot-hand-eye coordination and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to exchange information. Personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel toe shoes and safety glasses, must be worn at all times while in the indoor/outdoor shop environment; occasional safety face shield (full face) required. Constant or frequent communication (both verbal and written) is necessary to exchange information.
