An employee in this position monitors, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs lift stations along with sewer lines and system for Harnett Regional Water. AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

Checks and maintains lift stations. Changes pumps. Cleans sewer wet wells; uses vac truck. Cleans sewer lines and manholes. Responds to and clears sewer backups. Cleans bar screens. Maintains sewer lines and system. Must be able to drive and operate a vehicle to travel as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and

ABILITIES

Knowledge of the principles of plumbing and mechanical maintenance as applicable to water distribution systems. Knowledge of the geographical layout of the County. Skill in using equipment and tools necessary for locating and unearthing water system fixtures. Skill in performing mathematical computations with speed and accuracy, Ability to perform minor equipment repairs. Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time, possibly under challenging and arduous conditions Ability to meet deadlines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK

High school diploma or equivalent; One (1) year of related work experience; Or equivalent education and/or experience. Possession of NC Collections Grade II Certification. Possession of a valid North Carolina commercial driver’s license (Class A).

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to perform very heavy work exerting up to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; frequently requiring 50 pounds of force to move objects; and occasionally requiring to exert up to 100 pounds of force to move objects. This work also involves the physical abilities of crouching, feeling, handling, perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, discriminating among sounds, kneeling, lifting, using mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, speaking, standing, stooping, expressing ideas by the spoken word, and walking. An incumbent must also possess the visual acuity to analyze information, work with color or depth perception, determine accuracy or observe situations, and to operate vehicles or equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee works primarily in the field and is subject to various hazards. Requires working for extended periods of time, possibly under challenging and arduous conditions.
