Position Overview:
Akins Machinery, a division of Würth Baer Supply Company, is seeking an experienced Field Service Machinery Maintenance Technician to join our team. This is a full-time position based in the New England region , requiring regional travel to client sites to provide technical support, install, repair, and maintain industrial woodworking machinery. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills with experience servicing and maintaining production equipment such as CNC routers, edge banders, wide-belt sanders, dowel inserters, planers, joiners, and shaping equipment.
Schedule:
Day shift, Monday through
Friday Travel:
Daily regional driving (typically several hours one way) within the New England region. Company pays for fuel and covers travel-related expenses.

Key Responsibilities:
Routine Mechanical & Electrical Repairs:
Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on a variety of woodworking machinery, ensuring all equipment operates according to manufacturer recommendations.
On-Site Technical Repairs:
Provide on-site troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair services to minimize downtime for customers.
Installation & Setup:
Install new woodworking machinery, ensuring proper setup and calibration according to manufacturer specifications.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:
Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) issues either on-site or remotely.
Preventative Maintenance:
Conduct routine preventative maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance and prevent future issues.
Electrical System Maintenance:
Proficiently work with 480v, three-phase electrical systems, ensuring proper connection, troubleshooting, and repairs to electrical components.
Customer Interaction:
Communicate with customers regarding machine operation, troubleshooting steps, and provide training as necessary to ensure customers can maximize their equipment.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate service records and reports for all work performed, including repairs, parts used, and customer feedback.
Collaboration:
Work closely with internal teams, including customer service and warehouse staff, to coordinate service appointments and address customer needs.
Preferences & Requirements:
Mechanical & Electrical Expertise:
Significant experience with mechanical repairs and troubleshooting in an industrial production environment.
PLC Experience:
Experience installing, repairing, or troubleshooting PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) is highly preferred.
Electrical Systems Knowledge:
Proficiency with 480v, three-phase electrical systems, including the ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical components.
Machine Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of woodworking machinery, including CNC routers, edge banders, planers, sanders, and joiners, is essential.
Maintenance Skills:
Ability to perform routine maintenance and setup of industrial machinery to ensure it operates at peak performance.
Technical Proficiency:
Strong ability to read and interpret technical manuals, electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, and machinery drawings.
PC Literate:
Comfort with using a computer for service documentation, email correspondence, and troubleshooting support. Willingness to

Valid Driver’s License:
