Job Summary:
McCabe Construction is seeking a motivated and reliable Restoration Technician to join our team in Memphis, Tennessee. This role will involve assisting with various aspects of property damage restoration, primarily focusing on water mitigation and mold remediation. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, physically capable of performing the required tasks, and possess a strong work ethic. You will play a crucial role in helping our clients restore their properties and their lives.
Responsibilities:
Water Mitigation:
Assist in the initial response to water damage losses, including site assessment and documentation. Deploy and monitor drying equipment (e.g., dehumidifiers, air movers) according to industry best practices and established protocols. Perform water extraction using various equipment. Conduct moisture mapping and monitoring to track drying progress. Perform light demolition work, such as removing baseboards, drywall, and flooring, as necessary to facilitate proper drying and the removal of water-damaged materials. Maintain and clean water mitigation equipment.
Mold Mitigation:
Assist in mold remediation projects following established safety protocols and industry guidelines. Set up containment barriers using appropriate materials (e.g., polyethylene sheeting, negative air machines) to prevent the spread of mold spores. Perform mold removal using various techniques, including HEPA vacuuming, wiping, and the application of EPA-approved antimicrobial solutions. Clean and disinfect affected areas and contents. Properly dispose of mold-contaminated materials according to regulations. Adhere strictly to safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, and protective suits, to ensure personal safety and prevent cross-contamination. Understand and follow project-specific mold remediation plans and protocols. Assist with post-remediation cleaning and clearance testing preparation.
Loss Contents Removal:
Travel to residential and commercial loss sites to carefully remove contents that may be salvageable after water, mold, or other damage. Handle and transport items with care to prevent further damage. Assist with the inventorying, tagging, and documentation of removed contents, ensuring accurate records are maintained. Load and unload contents from vehicles. Assist with the cleaning and storage of salvaged contents, as directed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager or Crew Chief. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Communicate effectively with team members and clients in a professional manner. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in restoration, construction, or a related field is a plus, but not always required. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent attention to detail. Good communication skills. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed for emergency response.
Preferred Qualifications:
IICRC certifications (e.g., Water Restoration Technician
- WRT, Applied Structural Drying
- ASD, Mold Remediation Technician
- MRT).
Experience with moisture detection and monitoring equipment. Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to water and mold remediation.
