Building Caretaker Overview:

We are seeking a reliable, knowledgeable, and dedicated Caretaker to oversee the daily maintenance and operations of a commercial office building. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a basic understanding of property maintenance, repairs, and construction. This is a hands-on role with a blend of indoor and outdoor responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain a clean and organized workspace for tenants and clients. Clean common areas including hallways, bathrooms, and office spaces. Perform regular inspections and report maintenance needs or safety concerns. Paint interior of office spaces as required. Handle minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs, batteries (e.g., remote controls, entry systems), and general fix-it tasks. Maintain the exterior of the building including lawn care, hedge trimming, and sidewalk clearing. Organize and track bill payments and accounts payable (with support from ownership as needed). Communicate regularly with the building owner regarding ongoing and upcoming maintenance needs. Manage electronic keycard systems and maintain access control points. Ensure all tasks comply with safety protocols and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications & Experience:

Previous experience in construction, painting, or property maintenance/management is an asset. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build positive relationships with tenants and clients. Physically able to perform tasks such as mopping, cleaning, trimming grass and hedges, and minor lifting. Basic knowledge of building systems and general property upkeep.
