Job Overview:

We are hiring a entry level Refractory Technician (Subcontractor) to assist with the mixing, application, and maintenance of refractory materials. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with refractory mixes, forming castables, and repairing molds used in high-temperature industrial applications. We will teach the right candidate with the opportunities to grow with the company. Key Responsibilities

  • Mix specified amounts of sand, clay, mortar powder, and water to create refractory clay/mortar using hand tools or mechanical mixers
  • Interpret blueprints or technical drawings to form molds for castables
  • Cut, shape, and assemble molds using hand tools and woodworking methods
  • Assist in installing, forming, or patching refractory linings and shapes
  • Repair damaged refractory molds and forms with accuracy and safety
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the work area
  • Collaborate with team leads to ensure timely completion of tasks Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and construction diagrams is a plus.
  • Experience working in a refractory, foundry, or industrial setting
  • Basic carpentry and/or welding skills are a strong plus
  • Familiarity with safety practices in manufacturing plant environments
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions precisely Requirements
  • Must be eligible to work as a 1099 subcontractor
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from Leeds, AL
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform labor-intensive tasks
  • Must provide own basic hand tools (specialized tools provided)
  • Steel-toed boots and proper PPE required (we can assist if needed)
