Job Description As part of our BAE Systems Jacksonville ShipRepair (JSR) team, you will be working alongside some of theindustry’s top talent on the forefront of technology. We arecurrently hiring for an experienced Heavy Haul / Heavy Lift Managerfor transport projects using cranes and Self-Propelled ModularTransporters (SPMTs).The Heavy Haul / Heavy Lift Manger will be akey member of the JSR team and responsible for the execution ofonsite operations and maintenance using cranes, SPMTs and riggingequipment. Working as part of the Waterfront Operations team, youwill be responsible for the full life-cycle within a project, suchas working to industry standards, following detailed RAMS (RiskAssessment and Method Statement) and engineering drawings,mobilization/demobilization of equipment and operating theSPMTs.

The selectee will manage the off-loading and transportationof equipment, prefabricated structures, and heavy vessels tovarious foundations or staging areas within the shipyard. The rolerequires the establishment and maintenance of a comprehensivecrane, Rigging, and SPMT Program while interfacing with allstakeholders, and daily coordination of heavy lift and heavy haulactivities. The Heavy Haul/Heavy Lift Manager will provideleadership and accountability for safety, accident prevention, andenvironmental protection programs. Responsibilities also includepreparing reports and forecasts related to SPMT, rigging, and craneoperations, actively participating in safety meetings, andsupervising heavy haul and heavy lift personnel and activities. Theposition demands a proactive approach and coordination withstakeholders to ensure that all operations are executed accordingto project specifications and safety standards. In addition tooverseeing transport activities, the Heavy Haul / Heavy LiftManager will support the Heavy Lift Engineer in developing liftplans and heavy haul plans, providing technical guidance tosubordinate personnel, and ensuring that heavy haul routes areadequate for transportation.

Travel Requirement:

10%As the HeavyHaul / Heavy Lift Manager, you will be responsible for: Supervising a team of operators andmaintainers.

Working with the Transfer Supervisors and Heavy LiftEngineer(s) to plan and execute loading/transport operations permovement plans.

Supporting field construction operations related torigging and lifting operationsPreparing reports and forecasts forSPMT, rigging, and crane operationsDetermining crane requirementsfor the projectDetermining rigging equipment and materials for theprojectEnsuring Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMT’s) areoperated in a safe and efficient manner.

Evaluating loads requiringmovement on SPMT equipment and determine riskcategorization.

Ensuring all safety, health and environmentalprotocols and procedures are adhered to.

Ensuring periodicpreventative and corrective maintenance is completed.

Ensuring thatall equipment is maintained and in good working order includingadherence to company policy and procedures.

Cleaning, maintainingand inspecting equipment for defective components and notifyingmanagement of any defects or malfunctions.

Confirming equipment isoperated to the relevant standards and instructions.

Moving loads inline with project requirements.

Ensuring SPMT’s are inspected beforeand after each use to ensure safety and compliance withregulations, and determination of corrective maintenancerequirements.

Loading and unloading cargo in a precise andcontrolled manner; understanding and demonstrating proper loadsecurement for transport.

Supervising assembly, disassembly andreconfiguration of SPMT equipment.

Supervising the loading,unloading, assembling and disassembling assigned SPMTs andauxiliary equipment.

Evaluating transportation routing requirementsfor adequate clearances and soil conditions.

Assisting crane andrigging crews with all tasks for site heavy equipment lifts andmovements.

Communicating effectively with management, ProjectManagers, crew members, and clients.

Validating the completion ofdaily reports and maintenance logs.

Performing other related dutiesas assigned or required.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills B.S. Degree in Engineering or similarand 9+ years of experience in crane, rigging, and SPMT operationsand maintenance; or 15+ years of experience in crane, rigging, andSPMT operations and maintenance in lieu of a degreeExperienceoperating SPMTs or similar heavy transporters. Both on-siteoperations (to include performing basic maintenance, inspectionsetc.) and pre-operation planning, providing advice, guidance, andwhen required supporting Project Managers or Project Engineers inthe engineering and planning stages of projects.

Must be able toread, understand and follow engineered drawings.

Advancedunderstating of maintenance and repair work.

Strong understanding ofsafety protocols and regulations.

Experience troubleshooting fluidand mechanical systems.

Understanding of rigging and securing bestpractices.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Ability towork independently and make decisions under pressure.

Strongattention to detail and precision.

Ability to work in a variety ofweather conditions.

Must be able to read/understand transportationdrawings.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcoholscreening, as well as a criminal record check.
