The Role The Power Generator Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing generator equipment across various sites in Southwest Florida. This individual will play a key role in supporting disaster recovery efforts, ensuring the reliability and functionality of power generators. Location This role will be primarily based in Fort Meyers, FL and requires local travel between assigned sites within the surrounding Southwest Florida region. Additional travel is to be expected for emergency response and disaster recovery. The Main Responsibilities
Perform maintenance and repair of stationery and portable generator equipment across various sites within Southwest Florida.
Perform preventive maintenance, condition monitoring, repair, installation, and modernization of all stationary diesel engines for prime and emergency power generation.
Maintain generator start batteries, perform load banking, fuel polishing, and radiator maintenance.
Correct defects by adjusting, cleaning, repairing, and replacing defective items and components.
Test all work and perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, repairs, and maintenance.
Collect, analyze, and summarize data for report preparation.
Evaluate operational effectiveness and develop/maintain effective operational control mechanisms.
Assist in disaster recovery efforts as needed.
Operate and tow company vehicles and assets (i.e. enclosed trailers and portable generators) and connect power equipment to facilities requiring emergency power.
What We Look For in a
Candidate Required:
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in generator maintenance and repair.
Significant hands-on experience with repair and maintenance of diesel generators and power equipment.
Knowledge of principles and processes involved in operating and maintaining diesel engines.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with ability to work and make informed decisions independently.
Valid driver’s license with ability to drive company vehicles, often towing enclosed trailers containing portable generators, power equipment, or other company assets.
Ability to perform strenuous physical activities including but not limited to lifting equipment weighing over 100 pounds.
Ability to travel locally for day-to-day responsibilities and outside of assigned region as required for Disaster Response team needs.
Preferred:
5+ years of experience in operations and maintenance of a large plant, facility, base, or municipality, with specific experience in the maintenance and repair of diesel engines.
License or certification(s) applicable to generator maintenance and repair.
Experience in disaster recovery/emergency response efforts.
Familiarity with transfer switches and related equipment.
Compensation This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges:
$63,400
