Job Description Job Summary and Accountabilities Operate, maintain and overhaul stationary diesel engines, largepumps and ancillary machinery and equipment at a pumping station.
Perform preventative maintenance of diesel engines, main pumps,generators, compressors, raw water intakes, and trash rakes.
Detect, diagnose, repair and report machinery and equipmentmalfunctions. Utilize basic mathematical skills and reads drawingsto understand piping system and machinery layout. Maintain ahistory of machinery equipment and water conditions.

Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Employment Guidelines (May be filled as STAT Diesel Engine Operator/Mechanic or FieldOperations Worker) STAT Diesel Engine Operator/Mechanic Education and Experience Typically has High School Diploma or GED (Required) and 2+ years’experience in the operation and maintenance of diesel engines(Required) Licenses and Certifications Forklift Operations Certification (Required) First Aid/CPR/AED (Required) Valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)without restriction to operate vehicles equipped with manualtransmission and air brakes, or the ability to obtain a CDLLearner’s Permit within 2 months and/or CDL License within 6 monthsfrom date of hire or placement in the job. FIELD OPERATIONS WORKER
Education and Experience Typically has High School Diploma or GED (Required) and 0 – 2years’ experience In equipment operation, or manual and skilledlabor work. (Required) Licenses and Certifications Valid State of Florida Driver’s License (Required) Forklift Operations Certification (Required) First Aid/CPR/AED (Required) Ability to obtain all licenses and certifications required to workwithin assigned program area. (Training or funding for requiredtraining to be provided by SFWMD). (Required) This position may be required to participate in the PumpingOperations Program as either a Pump Station Assistant (PSA) or aPump Station Operator (PSO) (Required) The hiring range for this position is $ 47,257.60 to $ 51,937.60(based on education and years of relevant work experience).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Due to the District’s response role and in the total scope ofemergency management, this position may at times, be required toprovide support before, during and after major storm events andemergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declaredemergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
Extensive Exertion plus travel:
Regularly sets up, adjusts,controls, tests and operates equipment to complete assignments.
Work environment may be hot and humid with no facilities. Moves orotherwise transports equipment weighing up to 50 pounds ormore.
