Heavy Equipment Mechanic Job Description You will perform repair and service procedures on truck-mounted vacuum equipment both in the shop and in the field. The work related to the chassis is limited to performing routine preventative maintenance inspections and requirements for lubrication, fuels, and fluids. This position may require travel to make field service and repair calls. You will be responsible for cleaning the trucks, including minor detailing of the interior and washing of the exterior. Additionally, maintaining the workspace and performing housekeeping duties when no trucks are needing to be worked on is required. Responsibilities Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems Effectively read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics Perform all scheduled PM inspections of chassis, vacuum body, hydraulic, electrical, air, and water systems Conduct all repairs within DOT or OEM standards and service to return rental equipment to ‘Ready to Rent’ status Perform and document ‘check-in’ and ‘check-out’ inspections of fleet equipment Maintain and organize shop and storage areas ensuring proper storage of flammable items Demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team Be self-motivated, show complete accountability, and be timely in all assignments Must own and supply a basic set of hand tools and storage box. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Savannah, Georgia. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 – $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
