General Description
Reporting to the Mechanical Services Manager, the Mechanical Inspector is responsible for the quality control inspection, testing and compliance of the Mechanical Services department and ensures that all Quality Control standards and objectives are met.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Ensures and/or verifies all completed Mechanical Services work done in-house and all work received from outside vendors meet the quality control standards of the organization.
Conducting inspections and documentation of mechanical parts, measurement of critical dimensions, and evaluations to verify that mechanical systems, components, and equipment meet dimensional and safety standards per SPI, ISO and Quality standards. Reading and interpreting customer specifications such as work orders, inspection manuals, and blueprints to determine inspection using calipers, micrometers, pi-tape, angle, height, surface finish, radius etc and test procedures.
Troubleshooting issues and ensuring that mechanical parts and equipment are properly installed and functioning correctly. These responsibilities ensure that mechanical systems operate safely and efficiently.
Reviews all internal documentation daily as well as outgoing paperwork for accuracy and completeness. Verifies and signs off on a roll’s final approval for shipment.
Communicates the Quality Control procedures to all appropriate personnel within the Mechanical Services department.
Reports all Quality Control information, updates, status and issues to Mechanical Services Manager
Assists in production as needed or directed by supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
2 years of relevant manufacturing-related mechanical or millwright experience, or 2 years of technical training preferred
Languages:
English
Qualified candidates will possess solid mechanical aptitude skills, as well as a clear drug screen and background check
Must have a working knowledge of formal quality systems such as ISO
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances, and engineering principles.
Requires frequent lifting of moderately heavy objects and occasional lifting of objects 50 pounds and over. Requires hand dexterity for repetitive movements, operation of hand power tools and heavy machinery. Requires person to be standing for extensive periods of time.
