Role:
We are seeking an experienced Diesel Field Technician with a strong background in construction diesel equipment to join our team. This is a field-based role requiring a high level of technical skill, independence, and a commitment to safety. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience (15 years preferred) working with heavy construction equipment, particularly Caterpillar engines, and a proven track record in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and performing major repairs and rebuilds.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy diesel equipment in the field, including bulldozers, forklifts, and other construction machinery. Perform engine overhauls and rebuilds, especially on Caterpillar equipment. Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Maintain accurate service records and documentation. Operate and maintain service truck, tools, and equipment in accordance with company policies. Follow and promote a strict safety culture—zero tolerance for unsafe practices; goal of no near misses for the first three years. Support emergency repairs and after-hours work when needed.
Qualifications:
10-15 years of hands-on experience as a diesel technician, preferably in a construction environment. Demonstrated expertise working with heavy equipment, particularly bulldozers and similar machinery. Strong experience with Caterpillar engines—diagnostics, troubleshooting, and full rebuilds. Familiarity with forklift maintenance; Hyster and Yale certifications are a plus. Proven track record of field service work, working independently and in various conditions. Commitment to safety-first work practices with no history of major safety incidents. Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and follow manufacturer specifications.
