Essential Job Summary:

: Our Yellow Iron DieselTechnicians/Mechanics perform inspection, diagnosis, preventativemaintenance, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brakeand air systems on vehicles and equipment, primarily includingyellow iron machinery, diesel heavy trucks and engines. TheTechnician or Mechanic is not only responsible for understandingmaintenance and breakdown needs and initiating/ assigning necessaryrepairs, but also must be able to operate the machinery beingrepaired. At times, the Technician may be on call and required toassist with emergency breakdowns.

Essential Job Functions:

Toperform this job successfully, an individual must be able toperform each essential duty satisfactorily. Maintains advanced knowledge to diagnoseand repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment (heavy equipmentincludes but not limited to: yellow iron machinery, tractortrailers, forklifts, and other diesel trucks) Performs repairs andassigned preventative maintenance services. Estimates time andmaterial cost on vehicle repairs and requisition of new parts.

Conduct safety checks on vehicles. Completes required paperworkutilizing fleet maintenance software program associated withrepairing vehicles, documenting part usage, and accounting forrepair time. Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified onDriver Vehicle Inspection Reports. Maintain a clean, safe work areain compliance with Company safety protocols and OSHA standards.

This position will have no direct reports, however they will workin collaboration with the other yellow iron diesel mechanic onstaff, although on different shifts. Assists Sr. Technicians in thecompletion of project work.

Requirements and Qualifications:

:

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible towork in the United States. A valid driver’s license is required .CDL a plus. At least 5 years of experience in job duties.

Sanitation or construction industry experience a plus. Computerdiagnostic experience as diesel technician a plus. Experience withtroubleshooting/repairing DPF systems diagnostic software such asPremium Tech Tool (Mack), Allison transmission, Cummins, CAT,Peterbilt, and Paccar. Working knowledge of applicable DOT and OSHAstandards and regulations. Must be able to speak and read Englishwell enough to converse with colleagues, drivers and dispatch, andbe able to make legible entries on reports and records. Must beable to meet the physical and safety requirements of the position.

Must be able to provide own tools Work Environment We arecontinuously investing in equipment, and many of our trucks areless than 2 years old. The Yellow Iron Diesel Technician/Mechanicwill primarily be working out of our Transfer Station located at E.132 nd St in the Bronx, NY, however occasional travel to othersites to pick up parts as well as assisting with emergencybreakdowns may be required. Potentially hazardous work environmentwith many moving parts and machinery; must always be alert ofsurroundings. Only during breakdowns will this position be requiredto enter transfer station loading/ dumping area. PersonalProtective Equipment (PPE) will be provided. The Yellow Iron DieselTechnician/Mechanic may be required to lift upwards to 50 pounds.

Frequent squatting and standing are required.
