Overview:

$35-$50 dollars an hour, depending on experience. TheHeavy Equipment Technician (Yellow Iron) reports to the MaintenanceSupervisor. The Heavy Equipment Technician is personallyresponsible for performing complex preventative maintenance tasks,and troubleshoots and repairs a wide variety of operationalequipment (Trucks and Yellow Iron). To perform this jobsuccessfully, an individual must be able to perform each essentialduty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. Repairs asneeded equipment (including, but not limited to, bulldozers, skidstears, front-end loaders, yards trucks, tractors, forklifts, andcompany vehicles). Diagnoses and repairs differentials, hydraulicsystems, motors, transmissions, drives, air conditioning systems,and electrical systems. Performs tasks per preventative maintenancechecklist. Completes records such as work orders, card files, P.M.checklists, and oil samples. Services and maintains other equipmentsuch as light plants, water pump, welders, and other equipment.

Essential JobFunctions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must beable to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minorduties may be assigned.: Additional Responsibilities Maintainsadvanced knowledge to diagnose and repair mechanic al problems onheavy equipment (heavy equipment includes but not limited to:yellow iron machinery, tractor trailers, forklifts, and otherdiesel trucks) Performs repairs and assigned preventativemaintenance services. Estimates time and material cost on vehiclerepairs and requisition of new parts. Conduct safety checks onvehicles. Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenancesoftware program associa ted with repairing vehicles, documentingpart usage, and accounting for repair time. Reviews, completes, orassigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.

Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company safetyprotocols and OSHA standards. This position will have no directreports, however they will w ork in collaboration with the otheryellow iron diesel mechanic on staff , although on different shifts. Assists Sr. Technicians in the completion of project work. Mustbe able to lift 50 lbs Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications:

: Applicants must be at least 18years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States. Avalid driver’s license is required . CDL a plus . At least 5 yearsof experience in job duties. Sanitation or construction industryexperience a plus. Computer diagnostic experience as dieseltechnician a plus. Experience with troubleshooting/repairing DPFsystems diagnostic software such as Premium Tech Tool (Mack),Allison transmission, Cummins, CAT, Peterbilt , and Paccar. Workingknowledge of applicable DOT and OSHA standards and regulations.

Must be able to speak and read English well enough to converse withcolleagues, drivers and dispatch, and be able to make legibleentries on reports and records. Must be able to meet the physicaland safety requirements of the position . Must be able to provideown tools
