Operating our fleet of semi-trucks, yard hostlers, chassis, rail equipment and other heavy equipment the yard team manages the receipt of incoming loads, loading intermodal containers, and preparing the containers of commodities for export to Asia. The team of full-time mechanics maintains the fleet of equipment to keep operations moving efficiently. We are adding an experienced Chassis Technician to our Mechanics Team. Job Description The Chassis Technician will bring 2 or more years of experience with preventative maintenance (PM) and repair of chassis and chassis components. All work is on site (no road calls) in our yard. Maintenance Technicians are charged with maintaining and repairing chassis and related yard equipment. Repair work includes lights, tires, landing legs, brakes and framework and container repairs. Light welding skills are a plus. Routine maintenance on chassis components and tire repairs/replacements. Keep a schedule of necessary preventative maintenance work. Focus on ensuring the equipment needs of the yard operations are met. First shift, early start. Work in our large shop with a team of 3-4 mechanics – a great opportunity to learn and expand skill set! Job Requirements
- 2 or more years of experience as a Chassis Technician or Mechanic.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be dependable and arrive on time, and able to complete tasks efficiently and independently.
- Follow safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Maintain DOT compliant maintenance records as well as keep and meet the maintenance schedule.
- Welding and fabrication skills preferred, not required.
- Enjoy a fast-paced workflow with flexibility to work overtime (typically 10-15 hours OT a week). OT is paid at time and half and may be required on days where equipment is needed.
- Communicate clearly with shop team, yard team and facility manager.
- Physically able to climb up and down transloading equipment/ladders safely.
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb, and maintain balance throughout the day.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Good hearing and hand-eye coordination.
- Can carry fifty (50) pounds to lift/move tires or other items.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and agree to a drug-free work policy.
