- The Agency of Transportation is seeking a Transportation OperationsTechnician I.
This position is responsible for various tasks related tohighway maintenance, such as repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush,patching roads, picking litter, ditching, and more. - Environmental Factors
- Duties require working in extreme outdoor weather conditions.
Allemployees may be required to report to work outside of their area /workschedule and must be reachable by phone. Dangers are present when workis performed near heavy equipment, hazardous materials, and roadsidelitter. Employees may be exposed to blood and airborne pathogens.
Hazards are always present when working on the roads as traffic passes,emergencies such as flood, ice, snow hazardous materials. An incumbentmust be able to use tools and equipment commonly used for maintenancework as well as lift materials commonly used in maintenance work.
Participation in a random drug and alcohol-testing program is requiredprior to operation of vehicles or operating equipment. Considerableovertime work is required, particularly during the winter months, and isconsidered a condition of employment.
