Mechanical and Electrical Apprentice Byrd Appliance Specialists 630 Airport Dr, Shreveport, LA 71107
Responsibilities:
- Aid technicians on service calls at homes and businesses
- Pick up and install residential appliances
- Repair appliances that are diagnosed by a technician
- Clean and paint refurbished appliances
- Maintain a clean and orderly shop environment
- Lift 100+ pounds with aid from a dolly
- Provide your own tools for repair work.
This can be built up over time. While experience in this field is not necessary, you should be able to demonstrate a strong aptitude for understanding logic and problem solving. You will need to prove that you can work undirected and finish tasks by the end of each business day. We expect evidence of how you have advanced and improved throughout your career, or schooling. Your attitude and ability to learn will determine your future. Strength of character is rewarded here. The work environment is rigorous, as we are a company that does not settle for anything less than your best. There is potential for you to become a service technician with no formal education. If you are not perceived to be on that path, you will not make it. We are on the lookout for those that are hungry to learn and achieve. You will spend the weekdays in the field with a technician. On Saturdays, you will be working in the shop to develop your skills. This is a fast-paced learning environment. Appliance repair is a niche trade, so you will be learning a lot of different skills, primarily mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and customer service. The key to success is mastering diagnostics, through your own curiosity, and a strong desire to solve problems

Our best technicians are bringing home over $90k / year. With effort and a strong commitment, you can expect to be earning $50k+ after 1.5 years of training. You can be a top earner in roughly 5 years. Your skill set will be highly marketable at that point.
