$37.13 Job Summary The Facilities Skilled Trades HVAC Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of HVAC/R equipment on Canaveral Port Authority property. This position requires an understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration, including the ability to work with, troubleshoot, diagnose and repair low voltage controls. Essential Functions Must possess working knowledge of all aspects of HVAC/R equipment repair and maintenance. Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment including replacement of defective parts such as thermostats, safety switches, fan controls, fan motors, pumps, bearings, relays, fuses, compressors, and coils as needed. Chiller maintenance experience is preferred. Operate a variety of hand and power tools, as well as the ability to use acetylene torch, vacuum pumps and reclaim machines. Skills and abilities to inspect, repair, modify HVAC equipment. Knowledge of computers necessary to access building automated systems and emails. Working knowledge of HVAC controls systems and ability to troubleshoot such systems. Complete work orders and forms to ensure all documents regarding repairs/maintenance are complete. Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, schematics and M.E.P. as they relate to buildings. Apply methods, practices, and procedures in prevention, maintenance, inspection, and repair. Safely operate state vehicles and/or construction equipment when weather conditions permit. Installing, maintaining, and repairing ventilation and air conditioning equipment. Identifying maintenance risk of equipment. Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems. Performing emergency repairs. Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA). During emergency conditions, all CPA employees are automatically considered essential employees and may be subject to recall. These events may include, but are not limited to, natural, man-made, or public health emergencies. Employees may be expected to perform emergency and/or recovery operations outside of their normal assigned responsibilities and routine working hours. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalent Five (5) years of hands-on maintenance and repair experience on HVAC/R equipment HVAC Certification from secondary or technical school Universal EPA Certification Must be a team player able to perform in a fast-paced environment, be flexible and a self-starter Must possess excellent customer service focus and superior communication skills Must have basic computer skills Licenses /

Certification Required:

Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days Universal EPA Certification HVAC Certification, Journeyman’s License or 10 or more years verifiable work experience Able to secure a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) Physical Requirement Ability to perform physical aspects of the job such as lifting and handling 100 pounds Tasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds) Ability to operate heavy equipment used in the maintenance/construction industry (scissor lift, boom lift, forklift, front-end loader, skid steer loader, jackhammer, etc.) Work in various adverse conditions such as tight or enclosed spaces, heights, indoors or outdoors to complete work assignments Environmental Requirements Tasks are performed in indoor and outdoor environments due to the nature and location of the work environment. Tasks include potential for intermittent exposure to disagreeable elements, e.g., heat, humidity, inclement weather. Some tasks include working in and around moving vehicles and associated vehicle/equipment areas, where heightened awareness to surroundings and observance of established safety precautions is essential to avoid injury or accidents Must be able to work weekends and holidays The Canaveral Port Authority is an EO employer – M/F/Vets/Disabled
