Job Description
The HVAC Superintendent oversees the on-site installation, maintenance, and commissioning of HVAC systems on construction projects. Responsible for managing field crews, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining schedules, and delivering high-quality work, the HVAC Superintendent plays a critical role in project execution and success.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily activities of HVAC crews on job sites to ensure timely and quality installation of systems. Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to guide field installation efforts. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and building codes. Work closely with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to maintain project schedules and resolve conflicts. Conduct daily site walks and safety meetings; identify and address potential safety or quality issues. Track labor productivity, material usage, and project progress; report updates to project leadership. Order materials and coordinate equipment deliveries in alignment with project timelines. Provide technical guidance and training to field personnel to ensure proper installation practices. Maintain job site cleanliness, security, and organization. Support commissioning efforts and ensure HVAC systems function as designed before turnover.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; trade school certification or associate degree in HVAC or mechanical systems preferred. 5+ years of experience in HVAC installation, with 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role. Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, controls, and installation techniques. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficient in scheduling and reporting tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project, or similar). OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from job sites.
