Job Description General Functions Performs skilled multi-trades technical work specializing in one or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, lighting, audio, telecommunications, grounds and landscaping and various other building systems and services for the convention center. Interacts on a regular basis with exhibitors and center staff to ensure the highest level of customer service. Work is performed under the general supervision of an assigned supervisor. Performance is evaluated based on the guidance provided to team members, demonstrated mechanical skills and achievement of desired results. Representative Duties/Assignments Assignments may be in Facility Maintenance, HVAC Maintenance or Technical Services Repairs, installs, maintains and dismantles temporary electrical services up to 480 volts including hard wire connections. Repairs, installs, maintains and dismantles temporary plumbing services. Repairs, installs, maintains and dismantles temporary compressed air systems. Performs troubleshooting and diagnosing difficult electrical and plumbing problems. Performs corrective maintenance (CM) and preventive maintenance (PM). Performs unsupervised technical work on Electrical; Plumbing; Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC); Refrigeration; Pneumatic Controls, Emergency Generators Systems, Variable Frequency Drives, Carpentry; Masonry; Painting; Carpet and Tile laying; Locksmiths; Machinist; Mechanics; Generator & Power Generation Equipment Tech; Roofers Air Wall and Partitions Techs; Sheetrock and Dry-wall Repairs; Door Repairs; Lighting Techs; Sound and Audiovisual Techs; Electronic Fire Alarm System Techs; Fire Alarm Dry-Sprinkler Maintenance & Repair Techs; Roads and Sidewalks Asphalt & Concrete repairs; Irrigation and Landscaping Maintenance and Repairs techs. Performs other duties as assigned Facility Operations Buildings and Grounds Maintenance and Repairs Repairs, installs, and maintains glass, aluminum, metal doors, and kitchen equipment. Operates hydraulic equipment. Uses an electronic computer tablet to receive and execute assigned work orders delivered through the MAXIMO Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Operates hydraulic equipment, scissors lifts, boom lifts, articulating lifts, and high-reach lifts. Operates utility carts, and golf-carts. Performs minor repairs to motors, valves, and gauges. General Schedules and tracks full time and part time technicians as required. Interacts directly with event managers and clients to coordinate and schedule work, provide status reports, and billing information. Trains lower level technicians Minimum Qualifications Four (4) years of experience in Event, Facility, HVAC or Technical Services or an equivalent combination of education and experience or Vocational Technical School, or Trade School, License, Certifications and three (3) year of experience. Licensing/Certification May be required to possess and maintain a valid Florida Drivers License NICET Certification Backflow License EPA Refrigerant License Journeyman Plumber/ Electrician License Master Electrician/ Plumber License depending on the area assigned. Preferences Previous experience working in a convention center or highly occupied facility performing related maintenance and/or installation of utilities, air conditioning, heating, ventilation, lighting/audio services, rigging or facility maintenance. Equipment Skills Required Working knowledge and/or skills regarding electrical distribution equipment, computerized lighting and audio equipment, chillers and air handlers and/or a variety of motorized high-lift equipment.
