Job Description:
The part-time HVAC I Refrigeration Mechanic will assist with heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment as assigned, as well as maintain and repairing; and monitoring building controls. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist with the installation, preventative maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment as assigned.
Checks equipment and/or assists with the review of malfunctioning HVAC equipment.
Assists in maintaining, rebuilding and repairs by replacing worn or defective parts as assigned.
Assists in treating both open and closed water systems such as cooling towers by adding algaecides to prevent the spread of airborne bacteria.
Performs related work such as making and assembling metal ducts and chassis parts for heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems: drilling holes for mounting brackets; screwing, boring, riveting and welding parts to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches and gauges; and installing shells and cabinets of systems. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of full-time, or equivalent part- time technical experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of heating, refrigeration, ventilating and air conditioning systems and/or any equivalent combination of the required experience and education. One year certificate from an HVAC program preferred.
Must be able to read and interpret documents such as specifications, operation manuals and blueprints. Knowledge of the standard preventive maintenance procedures for heating, ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning systems and related electrical systems.
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures followed in the installation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning and electrical systems.
EPA Universal certification preferred
OSHA 10 or 30 a plus.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
HVAC Mechanics stand and walk for prolonged periods of time; lift and carry heavy objects; work outdoors and indoors; work varied shifts, weekends, holidays or nights; are exposed to the hazard of wet, slippery floors; work under exposure to the hazards to chemicals, toxic and noxious fumes, dust, excessive heat, high noise levels, high volume traffic conditions and high voltage wires; work from ladders and scaffolds.
