Job Description
POSITION
HVAC Technician
QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of three years of documented experience in HVAC maintenance, installation, and repair is required, preferably in a commercial or school environment. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing a range of HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, rooftop units, and split systems. Knowledge of local, state, and federal HVAC codes and regulations is essential. The ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics is required. A valid South Carolina Driver’s License is mandatory. Experience with building management systems as a diagnostic tool is preferred.

Director of Maintenance
GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across District Five facilities. Ensures all HVAC systems operate efficiently and in compliance with applicable standards to support a safe and comfortable learning environment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Diagnose and repair HVAC systems and components (e.g. compressors, motors, air handlers, thermostats, dampers)
2. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on HVAC units
3. Monitor and calibrate building control systems, thermostats, and energy management systems
4. Install and upgrade HVAC systems as needed across District facilities
5. Ensure compliance with EPA regulations and safety standards
6. Maintain detailed service records, logs, and maintenance schedules
7. Conduct routine inspections and respond to emergency service calls
8. Replace filters, belts, motors, and other components as required
9. Coordinate with vendors and contractors for major repairs or upgrades
10. Maintain tools, parts, and equipment inventory
11. Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies
12. Assist with other maintenance duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance or designee
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors with exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, cold, humidity, dust, fumes, wetness and heights. Work includes use of paints and strong agents which require proper handling and use. Job requires occasional strenuous physical exertion in lifting and moving items weighing up to seventy-fifty pounds. Routine local travel requires the operation of a vehicle (provided by the district which must remain on district property after work hours), maintenance equipment, machinery and tools. Work assignments often require constant focus and attention.
