Electrical & Mechanical Assembly Technician VAIA Technologies LLC Westborough, MA 01581 GENERAL

DESCRIPTION VAIA

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Electrical & Mechanical Assembly Technician will perform control panel assembly and general shop assembly level tasks in a busy machine vision, automation, and robotics operation. Candidate will be comfortable working to deadlines and collaborating with other team members, customers and vendors to ensure successful and on-time system delivery.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Complete mechanical panel build (layout of back plate, drilling, tapping, component layout)
  • Build electrical control UL panels to specification.
  • Assembly of automation systems per mechanical drawings under supervision
  • Assist in the commissioning and testing of customer systems
  • Use power tools and equipment to perform tasks (grinders, drills, saws)
  • Read, understand and utilize various engineering and manufacturing documents including bills of materials, assembly drawings, assembly instructions, wiring schematics and diagrams
  • Apply hand tools to ensure correct torque
  • Document QC and problem resolution logs
  • Perform re-work of wiring and assembly at request and guidance of QC technicians
  • Assist in training measures as needed
  • Assist in other areas of manufacturing as needed
  • Inventory and supplies management and tracking
  • Build shipping crates, prepare systems for shipment
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized and efficient work area
  • Be willing to travel: Estimated at 10%.
PREREQUISITE EXPERIENCE
  • Associates Degree or other technical schooling equivalent
  • 2 years of practical experience in related fields
  • Ability interpret and understand mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics
  • Familiarity with computers and Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid driver’s license, own your own transportation
  • Must be legally capable of renting a cargo vehicle
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience building UL panels
  • Knowledge of circuits and electronics
  • Experience building to
UL 508A, UL

training

  • Familiarity with Solidworks or similar CAD framework
  • Previous experience in electrical schematic creation & modification.

  • Be self-motivated with drive, enthusiasm and commitment and able to work on projects autonomously.
  • Be physically capable of moving, lifting or otherwise manipulating equipment
  • Be interested in new technologies and a quick study on new technology and concepts
  • Be comfortable working on multiple concurrent projects as part of a cross-functional team
  • Be prepared for periods of prolonged standing during mechanical and electrical assembly
  • Enjoy working with a small team in a high energy environment

Job Type:
Full-time Pay:

$20.00 – $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week
