Job OverviewThe Mechanic Multicraft Mfg is responsible for repairing and maintaining all assets in the production facility. This position also responds promptly to equipment breakdowns and repairs the machinery in a timely manner, and performs planned and unscheduled work, as necessary. The Mechanic Multicraft Mfg also provides advice and training to new personnel, Mechanic I level, and Mechanic II level employees; maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results; maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies. This position is also responsible for making design improvements and process changes to improve overall production efficiencies as well as programming electrical and electronic equipment.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesEnsures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctionsLocates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems, using precision measuring, and testing instrumentsMaintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs; developing job aids and one-point lessons, and building equipment SOPsMonitors and maintains multiple pieces of equipment by correctly completing assigned PMs, performing corrective maintenance work orders, filling out all paperwork, work orders, parts usage, and order formsControls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques, monitoring compliance, and assisting production as needed to keep the line running at top efficiencyPrograms changes and modifications to electronic, electrical equipment to improve overall productionTrains plant personnel on equipment and procedures Performs other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesRead and follow SOPs or instructionsComputer skillsAbility to multi-taskCompetency in monitoring and adjusting equipment speeds, temperatures, and liquid levelsIdentify and troubleshoot complex process issuesMake mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic adjustmentsPreferred ability to read blueprints, electrical prints, and machine schematicsAbility to comprehend complex processing equipmentIndividual needs to possess the initiative to further technical expertiseExperience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs) requiredMinimum QualificationsAssociate’s degree or up to 3 years of college or technical schoolKnowledge acquired through 5 to up to 7 years of work experienceTechnical degree or experiencePreferred QualificationsTechnical degree or experienceWork EnvironmentNoisy, wet, and extreme temperature environmentEqual Opportunity Employer – All qualified applicants will be considered for employment without regard to disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
