Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a proactive Sr.
Mechanical Engineer with diverse analytical capabilities anddemonstrated technical expertise. This individual will providesupport to the design, development, integration/test, andproduction of dynamic electronic military systems. The engineerwill work closely with hardware integrated into a variety ofcomplex countermeasure and electromagnetic attack solutions andproducts including compact electronic warfare systems. Theindividual must be a self-starter and is desired to havedevelopment experience working with integrated military electronichardware and related test equipment. The selected candidate will beexpected to execute both individually and in small, yet diverse,team environments through production and sustainment support, andmay include other phases of the product life cycle includingconcept development, detail design, qualification, andmanufacturing transition. The engineer will be responsible forsolving production issues while developing robust hardwaresolutions to meet demanding customer requirements and will leveragetheir mechanical engineering expertise to perform detailed designand analyses. Day to day, activities will include root cause andcorrective action activities in a production environment. This willinclude close interactions with the manufacturing team andsuppliers, including generating 3D solid models, drawings, anddocumentation utilizing GD&T principles; performing toleranceanalyses to assure fit & function; performing thermal,structural/stress, and vibration analyses; assessing designsagainst environmental requirements; as well as generatingprototypes in support of test and verification efforts.
With aproduct focus, the individual will actively partner with otherengineering disciplines and operations personnel to developsolutions that adhere to UPC, DFT, and DFM requirements.
Additionally, the engineer will support resolution of technicalissues that are discovered during manufacture and test ofdeliverable hardware. This may include evaluating andtroubleshooting mechanical faults and issues, assessing testfailures for root cause, identifying disposition/correctiveactions, as well as designing test equipment to ensure theperformance and integrity of manufactured products.
The successfulmechanical engineering candidate will have applicable experience inthe following areas: Design, development, and analysis ofelectromechanical hardware and systemsProduct/Factory Support ofDoD military electronics/avionics equipmentState-of-the-artmechanical engineering design and development toolsDesign andanalysis of multilayer CCAsPrototype & test Strong “hands-on”laboratory experience with instrumentation, equipment, andprocessesMIL specs & standards, industry standards including ASTM,SAE, DOEngineering documentation and presentationsThe idealcandidate will thrive in a learning environment that encouragesleadership and technical growth.
Because of the need for consistent,in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all workonsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will beperformed full-time on site.
