Applicants should be properly certified for the position. Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE
Site-based Maintenance Worker
JOB SUMMARY
This position requires the ability to perform basic trouble-shooting and Non-technical repair of buildings/classroom and follow preventative maintenance schedules. This work may involve the operation of equipment and tools relating to specific job assignments as well as minor maintenance in plumbing, painting, carpentry, and electrical job functions.
REPORTS TO
Principal, assisted by Maintenance Supervisor
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs routine maintenance and repair of school facilities using skills appropriate to the task. Maintains safe working conditions and maintains knowledge of facility to intervene and notify proper personnel of major maintenance or problems. Recommends to the principal and/or maintenance supervisor when a more qualified specialist or contractor is needed. Selects appropriate tools, equipment and material to safely perform assigned tasks. Assists other personnel in maintenance and repair if technical assistance is required. Assists with determining components needing replacement and source of the component. Maintains proper documentation for scheduled maintenance and inspections. Keeps an accurate inventory of supplies, equipment, and tools. Participates in training to increase knowledge of appropriate skill areas. Is subject to call out in emergency situations and may be required to work beyond normal school hours for special events and school functions. Exhibits an understanding of being a public employee and serving the public. Knows and follows board policy for Homewood City Schools. Performs other duties or tasks as assigned by the principal and/or maintenance supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work requires physical effort such as bending, stooping, crawling, climbing, balancing on ladders and scaffolding, and working in restricted and/or confined spaces. Lifting and carrying heavy objects up to and exceeding 50 pounds will be required.
