Job Description

  • JOB SUMMARY:
  • This position participates in the performance of landscape and field maintenance duties.
  • ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Performs landscape and field maintenance duties such as planting, watering, fertilizing, cultivating, mowing, tree cutting, pruning, string trimming, edging, blowing, raking, dragging fields, etc.

Performs general maintenance of building facilities, including, but not limited to, repairing damages, replacing lightbulbs, window repair, painting/staining, and addresses other related building necessities.

Paints County restroom and concession buildings.

Chemical/herbicide application.

Inspects buildings to identify problems or safety hazards.

Assists other crews/departments with special projects and/or events.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of county and department regulations, policies, and proceduresKnowledge of proper and current landscape and shrub practices and techniquesKnowledge of proper and current athletic field maintenance practices and techniquesKnowledge of occupational hazards and safety requirementsKnowledge of safety policies and proceduresKnowledge of the use, maintenance, and repair of hand tools and equipment related to building and landscape/field maintenance work.

Knowledge of traffic hazards, safety principles, rules, regulations, and speed limitsSkill in painting.

Skill in the use and maintenance of landscape/field equipmentSkill in the use of custodial equipment and toolsSkilled in clear and effective written and oral communicationDriven, self-motivated, responsible, and takes initiative

  • QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma/GED and one (1) year of related experience, or equivalent.

Possession of a valid drivers license issued by the State of Alabama.

Knowledge of proper and current landscape and shrub practices and techniques.

Knowledge of proper and current athletic field maintenance practices and techniques.

Knowledge of county and department regulations, policies, and procedures.

Skill in the use and maintenance of landscape/field equipment.

Skill in the use of custodial equipment and tools.

Skill in clear and effective written and oral communication.

Driven, self-motivated, responsible, and takes initiative.
