DEFINITION

: This is a semi-skilled labor position that is connected with all activities related to maintenance. Employees in this classification assist journeymen with their tasks. Jobs range from carrying tools to performing skilled activities.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

: Must possess a high school diploma or GED. Must possess a valid State of Alabama Drivers License. Must be able to be insured by AIDB insurance carrier. Desired five years of related full-time work experience and/or equivalent training. Must be physically able to perform assigned duties. Must have a working knowledge of the principles applied in the care and use of tools and machinery. Must have some knowledge of the fundamentals of forming and finishing concrete. Ability to understand and implement written and oral instructions. Must have general knowledge of routine carpentry maintenance. A sign language proficiency level of

SURVIVAL

according to the AIDB evaluation system must be obtained within the first 36 months of employment.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

: Routine tasks include but are not limited to the following; Assist with rough and finish carpentry. Assist in cabinet and millwork construction and finishes. Assist in the installation of modular furnishings and assemblies. Have the concept of the proper use of a carpenter’s level, framing square, and plumb bob Mixing concrete, mortar, and specialty patching compounds. General knowledge of and ability to provide assistance with building components, doors, and preventative roof maintenance. Moving furniture and loading trucks, etc. Driving trucks and a backhoe. Must be comfortable climbing ladders, working from man lifts, and on rooftops. Perform other duties as assigned. Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB .”

SALARY:

$ 15.25 – $17.89 per hour Scale C5 Rank 31 Direct deposit is required. (260 Days) This is a non-exempt position and is subject to overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
