JOB SUMMARY
Performs unskilled maintenance, repair, and/or light, and heavy manual work involving a wide variety of maintenance or construction-related tasks. Must have knowledge in HVAC, basic electricity, basic plumbing, basic carpentry and ability to do minor paint repairs. Assignments may include operation of power tools and light equipment which requires skills learned on the job. Work independently under general direction from the Maintenance Foreman/Energy Management and/or Director of Operations and Maintenance, and reviewed in accordance with specifications and accepted standards and procedures of the general maintenance trade.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs a variety of tasks not requiring specialized knowledge or skill; such as lifting, loading, and moving various parts and materials; provides unskilled assistance to skilled workers in multiple trade areas. Assignments may include the operation of equipment and the use of various power tools such as saws, drills, sanders, paint sprayers, forklifts, tractors and other heavy equipment. Duties involve shop, yard, and work site clean-up including trash and debris removal by hand or with equipment. May be required to perform grounds keeping tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming, and tree/shrub removal. Performs heavy manual labor such as digging ditches and trenches, carrying heavy materials, loading and unloading trucks. Assist trade workers by mixing plaster, hammering nails, sanding, painting, drilling holes, measuring and cutting lumber; may be required to climb on roofs when needed. Assist in carpentry work related duties. Assist in plumbing work related duties. Assist in painting duties. Assist in HVAC work related duties. Assist in electrical work related duties. Perform other reasonable and equitable job related duties assigned by the immediate Supervisor which may or may not be within this trade.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED. Two years of successful employment in maintenance, custodial, grounds, construction, or related field desired. Have a working knowledge of electricity, carpentry, plumbing, painting, and/or HVAC skills. Hold a valid Alabama driver’s license (Class A CDL may be required). Subject to drug test as required by law and school board policy and for operating school owned vehicle.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Ability to communicate orally, politely and respectfully to others. Proficiency in technology and computer programs.
