Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Building Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on school facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Inspect and report any issues with building structures such as doors, windows, and roofing to the Director of Facilities. Assist with painting, minor carpentry, and other small repair projects. Assist in classroom setup and furniture repairs. 2.
Groundskeeping:
Maintain the school’s exterior grounds, including trash pickup, trimming bushes, and pest control. Ensure walkways and entrances are clean, clear, and safe for daily use 3.
Custodial Duties:
Support the custodial team as needed in cleaning and sanitizing classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and other common areas. Sweep, mop, and vacuum as needed. Empty trash and recycling bins and replace liners. Refill supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper in restrooms. 4.
Safety and Security:
Monitor and maintain security of the building by locking/unlocking doors at designated times. Assist in emergency drills and ensure that all safety protocols are followed. Report any safety hazards or concerns to the Dean of Safety, Security, and Facilities. 5.
Event Setup:
Assist with setting up and taking down equipment, chairs, and tables for school events and activities. Ensure event spaces are clean and ready for use before and after events. 6.
Inventory and Supplies:
Keep inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies, reporting shortages to the Director of Facilities. Properly store and maintain cleaning equipment and tools. 7.
Preventative Maintenance:
Conduct routine inspections of building systems such as lighting and plumbing to ensure proper function. Perform minor preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning HVAC condensation lines, replacing air filters, and servicing bathroom plumbing. 8.
Collaboration:
Work closely with custodial staff, teachers, and administration to ensure the facility meets the needs of the school community. Assist with special projects and tasks as assigned by the Director of Facilities or other supervisors
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (required) Previous experience in facilities maintenance or custodial work (preferred) Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team. Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and maintenance tools
