Facilities Worker II (Transportation and Mobility Department/Parking Division) 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301 Performs progressively responsible facility maintenance duties, including minor repairs of building systems, parking garage facilities maintenance, electrical and irrigation repair, structural review and repairs, parking meter installation/repair, cleaning restrooms, trash pick-up, etc. In accordance with Article 24 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Teamsters Local Union 769, for posting purposes this open-competitive job posting shall be considered as a simultaneous internal and external posting (it is open to both internal City employees and external applicants).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. Monitors and prints out work orders; closes out work orders performed; keeps track of work in progress Maintains, repairs, constructs, and renovates parking facilities Participates in performing custodial tasks as applies to municipal buildings and other municipal property, including trash removal Inspects and repairs structures and buildings Participates in planting, mowing, watering, cleaning and trimming municipal parking facilities and grounds; planting trees, flowers, and shrubbery; and operating equipment necessary in completing assigned tasks Performs maintenance of municipal facilities and property, such as painting, plumbing, masonry, and landscaping work involving the use of hand and power tools Performs landscaping duties, including mowing, edging, weed eating, and blowing Is required to respond to emergency calls Performs minor equipment repair and maintenance Operates specialized equipment such as sweepers, man lift, trailers Performs custodial tasks as applies to municipal buildings and other municipal property Participates in setting up and taking down of benches, seats, chairs and other equipment Performs minor repairs on equipment and municipal buildings including lubrication of the equipment Performs semi-skilled tasks requiring the use of hand tools and perform manual work in conjunction with job assignments Performs duties in conjunction with City street maintenance such as erecting signs, barricades, cones and clearing debris Performs related work as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES & WORK ENVIRONMENT MINIMUM JOB REQUIRMENTS
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Minimum of three (3) years of related experience using equipment powered by motor and other hand tools Possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Florida driver’s license within thirty (30) days after hire Able to work the 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM shift Veterans’ preference per Florida law. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Availability to work assigned shift, including work on weekends and holidays.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
At least one (1) year of experience in parking garage facilities maintenance, including electrical and irrigation repair At least one (1) year of experience in parking garage facilities structural review and repairs Some knowledge and experience with parking meters and technology Some knowledge with parking sign standards and regulations for installation As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.
PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The position involves heavy physical demands, such as exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
