Employees in this classification perform general and preventative maintenance work. Position is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of supplies in the assigned areas. It is this position’s responsibility to open the park and the facilities as well as ensure there are no safety issues they need to contact the supervisor about. They are an essential part of the maintenance crew and complete the day to day tasks that are assigned to them. Without this position, the level of service and standards we currently have would suffer. The Cypress Park Division is 69.5 acres and consists of 5 Baseball Fields, 4 Basketball Courts, 2 Concession Stand, Jog/Walk Trails, Meeting Rooms, Nature Areas, Playground, 8 Pickleball Courts, 4 Soccer Fields, Swimming Pools, and Tennis Courts. This position may be assigned to other Parks locations as needed based on department operations.
Days/Hours:
Monday through Friday, 7 AM – 3:30 PM (may include nights/weekends/holidays/special events as needed) Examples of Duties Inspects park facilities for any safety issues that may be present. Sprays for weeds and other plant material. Painting of athletic fields. Brings equipment out to West side for repairs and maintenance. Mows athletic fields. Pick stick trash around the park. Clean restrooms. Pressure clean park amenities. Setup Cypress Hall for events. Fill out daily and weekly logs and inspections. Complete basic landscape maintenance. Work in group projects. Remove trash from trash cans. Pickup landscape debris. Drag and line ballfields. Typical Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Demonstrated ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the work; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Previous experience in facilities maintenance and working knowledge of tools and equipment related to maintenance and repair work of facilities. Valid Florida Driver’s License and acceptable driving record. Supplemental Information Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.
