Job Description
Maintenance Worker I – Public Works 3.4 3.4 out of 5 stars 5581 W Oakland Park Blvd, Lauderhill, FL 33313 General Statement of Job Under general supervision, the position maintains and cleans City buildings and facilities. Position performs general functions in the area of facility maintenance, storm water, streets and roads, and medians. Employees in this classification perform manual labor work. Performs related work as directed. Essential Functions Operates a variety of hand and power tools. Maintains traffic control around maintenance and construction areas. Cleans streets, roads, canals, and other City facilities. Assists with street repairs, sidewalks, canals, and maintenance of other City facilities. Assists with spraying of canals, plants, and vegetation. Assists with applying fertilizers, insecticides, and other chemicals to outdoor areas. Participates in special projects as assigned. Assists with the preparation of reports such as daily activity reports, vehicle logs, and others as required by assigned division. Sweeps/vacuums floors of offices, bathrooms, common areas, and other areas of public buildings and facilities. Mops/waxes floors of offices, bathrooms, common areas, and other areas of public buildings and facilities. Removes trash/garbage from all areas of public buildings and facilities. Cleans and sanitizes surfaces, offices, food preparation areas, eating areas, and other areas of public buildings and facilities. Monitors condition of building and functioning of equipment; reports any need for maintenance or repairs. Performs other functions such as raising/lowering flags, setting alarm systems, securing buildings at close of day, and running errands. Assists in moving furniture or fixtures as requested. Actively employs safety processes and procedures while performing job functions. Minimum and Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or GED; supplemented by at least one (1) year previous experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Special Requirements (must be obtained within one (1) year from date of hire) Florida CDL Class B Basic Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Certification Supplemental Questions Please be sure to answer all supplemental questions thoroughly and completely.
