Position Summary:
Charlotte Bay Rehab and Care Center is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Maintenance Assistant to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will help ensure our facility remains safe, clean, and comfortable for residents, staff, and visitors. Your support will directly impact the daily comfort and safety of our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and lighting systems. Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards in resident rooms, common areas, and facility grounds. Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests and emergencies (e.g., leaks, malfunctions). Help with moving furniture, event setups, and maintaining resident care equipment. Perform basic painting, patching, and general upkeep to preserve a clean and welcoming environment. Maintain exterior grounds, including lawn care, snow/ice removal, and walkway safety. Ensure safe use and storage of all maintenance tools and materials. Follow infection control protocols and comply with health and safety regulations. Maintain accurate records of work performed and report major issues to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required. Prior maintenance experience preferred, especially in a healthcare or senior care setting. Basic knowledge of building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC). Familiarity with safety and infection control protocols in healthcare environments. Compassionate and respectful attitude toward elderly residents. Ability to work independently and respond to urgent needs quickly and effectively. Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs., standing for extended periods, and performing manual labor.
