Job Description

Utility Trade Worker I Babcock Ranch 12150 State Road 31, Punta Gorda, FL 33982 Come join the Babcock Ranch Team! Babcock Ranch, America’s first solar powered town seeks Utility Trade Workers to add to our growing team. The purpose of this position is to perform troubleshooting, predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance of all equipment used in the treatment, collection and distribution of water, wastewater and reclaimed water. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, electrical components, pipes, pumps, motors, treatment systems, generators, valves, meters and related support systems and equipment. Position requires the employee to be on-call as scheduled, meaning available to respond to utility anomalies and emergencies 24/7 and may be required to work weekends, holidays and as well as day, evening and night shifts.

Responsibilities:

Operating and maintaining lift stations Mowing and weeding Utility sites Accurately collect and record customer meter readings Maintaining the distribution logbook per the regulatory requirements Facility housekeeping in connection with equipment, buildings and grounds Equipment predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance as required Install and repair utility services and perform restorations as needed to the satisfaction of the customer Exercise valves perform and document fire hydrant maintenance and manhole inspections Implement all safety procedures and protocols including, but not limited to wearing PPE Perform locates Install and repair utility services and perform restorations as needed to the satisfaction of the customer Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of and experience using a wide assortment of hand and power tools and other repair or maintenance equipment, including safety equipment Knowledge of safety procedures and precautions required when performing maintenance tasks on equipment typically found in the wastewater plant Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position Must have a mechanical aptitude; alertness; dependability Ability to demonstrate good judgment; resourcefulness; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position Educations and/or

Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent preferred Physical activities required daily will consist of, bending, digging, kneeling, standing and walking throughout the field and plant The associate is required to use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms The associate may frequently lift and/or move up to and over 50 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus •
