BACKGROUND CHECK AND DRUG SCREENING IS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
- Duties consist of but are not limited to constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, conforming to local building codes, by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Install, maintain and repair electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems for all County buildings
- Read technical diagrams and blueprints.
- Perform general electrical maintenance.
- Inspect transformers and circuit breakers and other electrical components.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices.
- Follow National Electrical Code state and local building regulations to repair and replace equipment, electrical wiring, or fixtures.
- Perform circuit breaker corrective maintenance.
- Working knowledge of troubleshooting and minor repair of HVAC systems
- Plans and coordinates cost estimates for purchasing of building materials needed in the construction of renovations and new building projects
- Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware, such as lock, letter drops, and kick plates.
- Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
- Welds metal parts to steel structural members.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and understand blueprints, sketches, and building plans and be knowledgeable of the materials needed and required. Knowledge and ability of erecting framework for new building structures. Knowledge and ability of the processes for welding, concrete mixing and forming. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a high school diploma from an accredited high school and five (5) years of progressive experience in the trades of electrical, HVAC, and carpentry. Trade certification can substitute on a year for year basis of the required experience of each trade field. Possession of a valid State of Florida Driver’s License with a favorable driving record.
