Position Summary:
Performs semi-skilled and limited skilled work in the maintenance of streets, stormwater and rights-of-way maintenance. Employees may be assigned to one or several functions within the classification depending upon the needs of the department. Work is reviewed through oral and written reports, discussion, and results obtained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
The following duties are illustrative and not ehaustive. Depending on the assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform some or all of the activities described below. Performs semi-skilled work for jobs related to tree trimming tasks. Performs limited skilled work in streets, rights-of-ways, and waterways using first level maintenance equipment Washes, cleans, and gives routine first level maintenance to equipment. Operates pressure, chain saws, trimmers, chipper/shredder, stump grinder, small trucks, and automotive equipment. Assists team in traffic control. Assists with obtaining tools and materials needed for work. Assists in setting up barricades and other warning devices to channel traffic around construction areas or other hazards. May be required for standby and or after hour duties. Prepares daily activity sheets and other documentation as required. Performs other job duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, materials and tools of several trades. Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to prepare and maintain records on activities. Ability to apply all applicable safety measures. Ability to be a dedicated, supportive member of our team. Skill in the operation and maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment of the trades. Ability to perform manual work under adverse weather condition for etended periods. Ability to work in/or around traffic, working around underground utilities: electric, gas, phone/fiber optics, cable TV, water, sewer lines, etc. Must be capable of working above 75-feet of heights.
Education and Eperience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year eperience in related work, with tree maintenance, pruning, removal, and care eperience preferred.
Certificates and Licenses :
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license must be insurable by the City’s current insurance provider. National Incident Management System (NIMS) training will be required according to the job duties and responsibilities within one (1) year of employment.
