Job Title:

Parks Technician Pay Grade 107

General Description:

This is an unskilled manual labor position in the general maintenance, repair, and construction of the City of Minneola’s streets, right-of-ways, retention ponds, sidewalks, storm-water system, and all other related duties. Work with and alongside of Lake Correctional inmates to perform various work related duties within the City.

Responsibilities:

 Performs all work related tasks as may be required or assigned including but not limited to: responsible for mowing grass in right-of-ways, retention ponds, wetland areas, weed control, tree trimming and clearing, maintenance and repair of city streets, driveways, sidewalks, street signs and roadway markings, and fences; building maintenance & repairs, clean community building & maintain supplies in restrooms; maintain, repair & clean city equipment & Vehicles as may be required, perform any other duties as assigned or required.  Operates various hand and power tools/vehicles including but not limited to: weed eater, edger, trimmer, chain saw, cut saw, heavy equipment, bush hog, tractor, z-track, mower, dump truck, bucket truck, light duty vehicles, and all other work related equipment as may be required.  Maintains city streets, curbs and gutters; repairing asphalt edges and potholes, marking and painting right-of-ways, streets, pass zones and parking lots, maintain, install, replace and repair all city street signs as may be required.  Maintains, repairs or replaces city sidewalks; including but not limited to: making and installing form boards, grading and site preparation work, mixing and pouring of cement, finish trowel & broom finish.  Maintains, repairs or replaces city storm-water system including but not limited to: cleaning out inlet and outlet structures, drainage basins and connected piping system.  Performs routine general building maintenance of all city facilities and fixtures including but not limited to: Administration building, City Hall, Community building, Public Works Building, and all other related facilities and structures. Maintain AIC filters, plumbing system, lighting systems, floors, ceiling tile, etc., and all general building infrastructures.  Sets up and breaks down chairs and tables for special functions.  Performs building and facility maintenance and repairs including carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, pressure cleaning, etc.  May be required to work extended hours during emergency situations such as hurricane, severe weather, etc.  Works on-call, as needed, during special events.  Performs other duties as assigned.  These essential job functions are not to be construed as a complete statement of all duties performed. Public Works Supervisor Skills:

 Effective oral and written communication skills.  Ability to organize work and set priorities to meet deadlines.  Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately.  Ability to access, input, and retrieve information and data from a computer.  Ability to follow directions both orally and written; communicate with fellow employees, supervisors.

Minimum Requirements:

Graduation from High School or equivalent. At least one (1) year of general maintenance and repair experience related to the essential function of this job. Valid Florida Driver License Class “E”. Must reside within twenty-five (25) miles from Minneola’s city limits.

Physical Requirements:

Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction). Acceptable eyesight includes, but not limited to depth perception, close, distance, peripheral, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid). Acceptable dexterity in fingers and hands. Ability to stand for brief periods of time; ability to walk short distances; ability to sit for brief periods of time. Ability to twist, reach, bend, stoop, lift, twist, and climb ladders and stairs. Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry seventy-five pounds (75). The job requires driving a city vehicle (transporting other employees at times) and operating necessary equipment to perform essential functions. Environmental Work is outdoors with exposure to dust, pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, bright and/or dim light, heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, extreme noise levels, animals/wildlife, fumes or noxious odors, traffic and moving machinery; may be required to work at high elevations and in confined spaces. Education/ Graduation from High School or equivalent.
