NOUnder direction of the golf course superintendent, this position is responsible for directing and participating in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, and cart paths; supervises the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment. Position is responsible for assisting in planning, assigning, directing, and inspecting the work of personnel involved in the maintenance of greens, tees, and fairways; and performs related duties as assigned. This position may act in the capacity of the superintendent in his/her absence. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Responsibilities and Reporting During an

Emergency Situation:

Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.

Non-Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee’s Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Coordinates and supervises the work of personnel engaged in the maintenance of greens, tees, and fairways; supervises the employees in the use of the equipment.

Assists in planning, scheduling, assigning, directing, and inspecting the work of assigned personnel.

Instructs equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment.

Supervises pesticide applications and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment.

Supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems.

Recommends special work or necessary equipment maintenance; reviews completed work.

Responds to emergency situations as necessary.

Prepare and maintain written documentation and provide written reports as needed.

Required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of assigned tasks.

This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee’s physical presence at the workplacePerforms other duties as assigned.
