The Facilities Maintenance is a critical position within the Agency. This position involves the proper maintenance of the entire Agency’s complex to include the Detention Facility. This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of tasks supporting construction, maintenance and repair of Agency buildings and equipment. Included are the facility systems, such as heating, air conditioning, ventilation, plumbing, electrical, electric/pneumatic controls. This position carries a 24-hour responsibility and accountability for all aspects of operations, quality of services, and maintenance programs within the Agency.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Performance of lower level duties may be required. Responsible for directing and maintaining operations and cleaning of the facilities and grounds.
Performs a variety of work in maintenance (preventative and recurring) and repair of buildings and grounds including pressure washing, removal of dry wall, and etc.
May operate equipment such as tractors, mowers, and ATVs.
Keeps supervisor fully informed regarding assigned work-related activities, relevant issues, upcoming events and potential problems.
Responsible for the proper security control of assigned inmate workers.
Lighting repair and replacement.
All levels of painting applications, preparation of surfaces and etc.
Minor preventative maintenance to include security fencing and associated facility equipment.
Respond to emergencies at the detention facility (i.e.: fires, riots, natural disasters and etc.).
Minor plumbing repair, replacement, and new work to include fixtures, fittings, lines, toilets and etc. Repair minor leaks and stoppages.
Minor masonry repair, replacement, and new work to include sidewalks, drainage structure, etc.
Performs other maintenance, grounds keeping and custodial tasks, as assigned.
Maintains security at all times; assures inmates are following rules and procedures; assures all inmates are accounted for and contained in appropriate areas.
Obtains estimates for supplies and repair parts.
May inspect equipment and make minor repairs or corrective recommendations.
Provides regular progress reports to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, emergency shut-offs and other systems.
Loads and unloads materials and supplies as required.

Ability to manage multiple activities and projects.
Ability to use a computer to type reports and other documents.
Ability to meet requirements of periodic in-service training in all high liability areas (firearms, defensive tactics, tactical driving), if is sworn class.

Requirements:
Two years of experience related to facilities management, building operations, facilities maintenance, and/or construction oversight.
Any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
High School diploma or GED;
Valid State of Florida Driver License for required travel.
If sworn, a valid Certification of basic law enforcement officer training or detention officer training as required by the State of Florida.
If sworn, meet requirements and standards of the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission as authorized by
F.S.S. 943.13

Physical Demands:
Ability to lift and/or move objects of at least 50 pounds.
May be required to work outside normal work hours.
Must meet all physical standards required by LCSO or
CJSTC/FDLE
as a sworn or certified applicant.
Work may require or subject the individual to have contact with hazardous or dangerous materials.
The job risks exposure to pathogens, extreme hot/cold temperature, diverse weather conditions, heights, violence, dusts, pollens, traffic and electricity.
Work is performed in and around a secure facility environment. Must have the ability to work with Inmate Workers.
Excellent manual dexterity.
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday (normal schedule); 8 hours per day.
Work hours and days may vary depending on assignment(s) however, the preferred.
Shall be subject to recall to on-duty status as the Agency warrants.
May be required to travel to conferences or other training outside regular office hours.
