Siesta Key, FL Department:
Parks Recreation & Natural Resources Start Here. Grow Here. Stay Here. Assist with cleaning, minor repairs, invasive species removal, coastal restoration, event support and general upkeep of the beaches/parks. Performs routine cleaning and daily operational duties, light to heavy physical labor as needed: Supplementing the maintenance and upkeep of assigned parks and grounds; utilizing a variety of basic skills while using small tool and minor equipment to ensure clean and safe parks. About the Position In this role, you will: Perform daily maintenance, minor repairs, cleaning, and upkeep of Siesta Key Beach.
Examples include:
cleaning (both general and deep cleaning), trash removal, litter picking, and other duties associated with daily upkeep/maintenance. Offer occasional trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, and/or electrical work, depending upon the tasks necessary. Assist with diagnosing maintenance issues and completing assigned work. Help to schedule programs, events, and summer camps, as needed. This can also include the setup, take down, and operations of such events. Use and care for small equipment such as, but not limited to, lawn mowers, weed eaters, edgers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, pressure washers, etc. for landscape. Coordinate volunteer work and exotic invasive plant removal, as well as resource management projects (as assigned). Utilize hand and power tools to perform restoration work within Siesta Key Beach. Aid Environmental Specialists with duties and tasks for resource management. Provide exceptional customer service, answering questions and concerns promptly; and communicating any concerns or issues to the supervisor. About the
Schedule Work Hours:
Full-time, 40 hours per week. Position Hours- Sunday – Saturday, 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Assigned work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, emergencies, etc. Must be flexible weekends and holiday work may be required.
About You Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent education. One year of experience as a semi-skilled laborer in the care and maintenance of parks, landscapes, athletic fields, or other similar grounds. Valid Florida Driver’s License at time of hire. Subject to
Passing Substance Screening:
This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
Physical Demands:
May occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds, with assistance.
