Senior Trades Worker Bureau of Transportation and Facilities Job Summary:
The facilities technician serves an important role in ensuring that buildings and mechanical systems are functioning properly and efficiently. The facilities technician will monitor and report building and grounds issues to the Facilities Program Manager. They tackle everything from routine maintenance to identifying issues and coordinating with service providers. Work will be performed for Apopka Service Center, Geneva Field Station, Apopka Field Station, and Sunnyhill Field Station.
Job duties include:
- Perform or coordinate routine maintenance for District buildings; for example, HVAC such as changing air filters; minor plumbing maintenance and repair such as changing faucets; painting offices and common areas. Coordinates with manager for more complex maintenance requirements.
- Responds to facilities requests (employee-generated work orders) in support of District staff and functions (District events and meetings), including assembling, installing, and moving furniture and office equipment.
- Oversee and support the janitorial contracted service to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Create and complete routine work orders and file completion requirements in the electronic work order system (TMA).
- Recommends repairs and required maintenance projects in the respective area of responsibility as well as coordinating and monitoring the progress of contracted service providers and contractors, reporting on progress and gaps to the Facilities Program Manager.
- Perform facility inspections, including safety and health inspections and correct or report deficiencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma or G.E.D. and experience performing similar tasks as stated above. SJRWMD has determined this to be a mandatory-testing position as described in Section 440.102, Florida Statutes. Any offer of employment for a mandatory-testing position will be contingent upon successfully passing a drug screening paid by SJRWMD. Ability to:
Climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding; work in small or confined areas
- manholes, ceilings; lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds; pulling and pushing of objects/furniture; grasping objects
- -tools, equipment, materials, etc. stooping or crouching; distinguish color
- electrical wiring; distinguish sounds, i.
e., air leaks, bearings going bad, etc. ability to work outdoors. Able to communicate effectively with supervisors, employees, other work units, and contractors; understand project assignments; monitor contractual staff, work independently as required.
Skilled in:
HVAC and generators maintenance, operating building automation systems, carpentry, knowledge of plumbing, painting and landscaping, and all relevant facilities maintenance and operation tasks.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
Office and field work, sometimes in extreme weather conditions. It can require working in tight areas, indoors and outdoors, in inclement weather.
Licenses:
Valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
Additional Details:
The District will provide uniform shirts; tools/supplies, and vehicles to perform tasks. Travel between various work sites in considered work time. A flexible schedule during business hours is available.
Starting Salary Range:
$40,019.20
- $46,800.
00 Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
