Assistant Director of Maintenance Barrow County School System – 3.9 Winder, GA Job Details Full-time $85,799 – $141,903 a year 2 days ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Employee assistance program Vision insurance Life insurance Retirement plan Qualifications Plumbing License Staff supervision EPA Refrigeration Certification Electrical License Mid-level High school diploma or GED Driver’s License Financial report interpretation Low Voltage License Industrial equipment Vocational training Backflow Certification Building automation and control networks (BACnet) Boiler License 10 years Full Job Description We need an Assistant Director of Maintenance to supervise and provide guidance, leadership and training to Barrow County School’s maintenance shop technicians and contract vendors for the implementation and resolution of emergency repairs, routine preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, alterations to existing campuses and other related items as identified by the Director of Maintenance. The work covers multiple technical trades across all school system buildings and equipment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervision of all trade areas performing emergency repairs, enhancement projects, and corrective work orders to all schools and system equipment both in a central repair shop and on site at school campuses. Plan preventive maintenance (PM) activities and schedules with all maintenance shop technicians. Monitor and maintain safe work procedures to include lockout tag-out procedures. Monitor and supervise work performed by maintenance technicians and contracted vendors according to system standards and all codes. Monitor all work requests and work with technicians to properly plan their work so that work orders are created in a timely manner per system standards. Foster good relations and teamwork between all members of the Maintenance Shop. Maintain records of all Maintenance vehicles. Assist the Director of Maintenance with purchase requisitions, RFP’s, purchase orders and vendor bids as directed by the Director of Maintenance. Check and maintain material and tool records for each trade area in the Maintenance Department issued for working with school system equipment. Work with each trade and the Inventory Specialist to set up and maintain inventory of repair parts required for the system’s equipment. Continuously monitor inventory levels and submit purchase requests to replenish stock. Responsible for inventorying and maintaining replacement parts. Train local school personnel and assigned craftsmen to maintain their equipment. This includes PM specifications outlined by the original equipment manufacturer and minor repairs as well as the maintenance operations PM schedule. Continuously monitor training requirements and plan in-service training Stay current with changing methods, codes, safety procedures, and materials as applicable to all trades. Assist the Director of Maintenance in the planning and efficient operation of all trade sections. Coordinate with all other school system departments as necessary in completing assignments. Ensure that proper training is provided to service and repair different types and makes of new equipment as it is added to the system inventory. Carries out all other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance. Be subject to being called 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Manage the on-call schedule for technicians. Adheres to all safety requirements. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Ability to communicate oral and written instructions quickly and accurately. Ability to provide technical instructions and diagrams. Working knowledge of all codes, materials, tools, hazards and safety procedures pertaining to the position. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from stakeholders. Ability to present information effectively. Communicates effectively with system personnel, school officials, contracted vendors and maintenance shop technicians clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with system personnel, school officials, contracted vendors and maintenance shop technicians. Ability to perform duties with awareness of and adherence to all district requirements, policies and procedures. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, manipulate tools and small items with hands, operate typical office automation equipment and lift and transport up to 75 pounds over short distances. Employee is required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. Sitting and working on a personal computer are occasionally required, as well as conversing by telephone. The employee may be subjected to a wide range of ambient temperature and humidity conditions while performing inspections under varying conditions including work in overhead and confined spaces. Potential hazards of this position include exposure to high-voltage electrical, heat and noise producing machinery and equipment, accessing elevated equipment using ladders or other lifting devices, and exposure to chemicals and solvents.
