This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing city facilities and equipment. Essential Job Functions Installs and repairs water mains, fire hydrants, check valves, water service lines, taps water mains, performs ground excavation work, mixes, rakes, spreads asphalt, and patches repairs and excavations.
Locates, identifies, and marks distribution system facilities, including valves, fire hydrants, and blowoffs; advises the USA Locates organization and assists in updating the district’s water mapping and atlas functions.
Operates backhoe, front-end loader, dump truck, or vac truck; routinely inspects and performs minor maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment; removes and replaces defective parts.
Utilizes hand and power tools applicable to the work, including a jackhammer, pipe locator, welding, and cutting equipment.
Maintains accurate records and logs of work performed, including service orders and accounting for time and materials used in various jobs.
Assist in orienting or training new personnel; make recommendations on improvements to job procedures.
Assists an assigned crew; ensures the crew has adequate supplies to complete assignments.
Cleans offices, hallways, lunch and break rooms, meeting rooms, and stairways, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, buffing, and waxing floors, washing windows, mirrors, dusting furniture and fixtures, and emptying trash. Performs general grounds maintenance and landscaping duties: mows and edges grassy areas, trims hedges, prunes trees, pulls weeds, plants flowers, and spreads mulch. Maintains sprinklers and repairs broken pipes as needed.
Transports vehicles to the city shop for routine maintenance and services as needed.
Troubleshoot basic maintenance problems involving plumbing and equipment repair or replacement; performs painting or related repairs and installations.
Provides maintenance and repair work and supervises a small work crew. Reviews and inspects work, guides task performance, trains and develops employees; provides input to employee performance appraisals, promotes, and observes safe work practices.
Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED equivalent; one (1) year of related maintenance experience necessary. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Confined Space Safety Certification
ICS100 and ICS700
Bloodborne Pathogens
Traffic control Flagging certification Work location: 14 Interchange Dr.

 Mon-Fri, 7am-3:30pm Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen, and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment. Additional Information Knowledge of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential duties.
