No Purpose of Job The purpose of this job is to provide support and assistance in one or more of the following areas: secretarial and clerical, program coordination and assistance, creation of maps and informational materials, daily support of operations and maintenance, animal/exhibit maintenance and care, and performing additional tasks as assigned.

Job Related Requirements Work Schedule:

Tuesday-Sunday hour wills vary and include nights, weekends and holidays. May be required to work on religious holidays. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Must work cooperatively with others. When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC’s safe driving policy. Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions High school diploma or equivalent with one year of secretarial/clerical or applicable recreational experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Supervisory experience is preferred. Essential Duties, Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Collects cash, checks, and credit card payments for entry fees, facility and grounds rentals and program registration, and records and processes per ACC cash handling policies, utilizing Point-of-Sale software where applicable. Monitors assigned facilities, trails, and grounds; greets participants; enforces park rules and regulations. Answers the telephone and/or radio, and directs calls to appropriate personnel; provides information to the public regarding programs, services, activities and reservations. Prepares administrative paperwork, including authorizations for payment, labor vouchers, performance agreements and contracts. Updates website and calendar of events as directed. Assists with planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating events, programs and activities as directed. Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Requisitions supplies and maintains inventory of office supplies, brochures, and needed forms. Establishes and maintains contact and communication with outside agencies, groups, organizations, and volunteers. Serves on assigned committees as needed. Prepares facilities, grounds, and trails for programs and events, including related maintenance and security needs and concerns. Assists with general housekeeping maintenance as needed. Provides secretarial and clerical support to the assigned facility; prepares, types correspondence and reports; copies documents; compiles employee time sheets; processes mail; distributes payroll checks; creates/revises and distributes brochures and other informational/educational materials. When Assigned to Virginia Walker Park Supervises park operations and rentals along with seasonal and part-time staff of Virginia Walker Park during peak April to October season. Works in coordination with Aquatics Program Specialist to enforce rules and direct aquatic staff. Schedules and evaluates assigned Park Assistants. Adds chemicals to aquatic equipment and performs water testing as needed for operation of splashpad. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of the Athens-Clarke County Government and the operations and functions of the Leisure Services Department. Knowledge of secretarial, maintenance and recreational practices, policies and procedures as necessary in the completion of daily responsibilities. Knowledge of modern office procedures. Skill in planning and coordinating activities, oral and written communication, operating modern office equipment and maintaining accurate records. Skill in organization, management, human relations, and technical skills. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with, management, employees, members of the general public and all other groups involved in the activities of the Athens-Clarke County Government as they relate to the Leisure Services Department. Ability to assemble information and make written reports and documents in a concise, clear and effective manner. Ability to use independent judgment and discretion including the handling of emergency situations, determining and deciding upon procedures to be implemented, setting priorities, maintaining standards, and resolving problems. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

: Must be able to use body members to work, move, or carry objects or materials. Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including a computer, copying machine, calculator, scanner and bicycle.

This position requires:

walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors subject to rain, wind, cold and hot temperatures and potentially wildlife. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those of medium work.
