General Maintenance Worker- Craftsman 3.4 3.4 out of 5 stars 1160 Great Pond Road, North Andover, MA 01845 This position is in the buildings department where the individual will typically be performing tasks associated with buildings maintenance. The overall emphasis of this position is to maintain, improve and enhance the Brooks School buildings to a high standard that benefits the members of the Brooks community and all who may visit. This position may be assigned to other roles within the Facilities Management Department, based on workload and economic conditions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY OBJECTIVES

• Familiarity and proven experience in buildings repair and maintenance
• This includes but is not limited to OSHA regulations pertaining to workplace safety and chemical use; read and understand safety related documents
• Is willing, able, and qualified to use all pertinent tools associated with this position including the operation of school-owned vehicles and equipment
• Help perform setups and take-downs as necessary and for campus events
• Snow removal, performed via handwork or equipment
• Participate in preventative maintenance
• Other duties as assigned

COMPETENCIES

• Familiarity and proven experience in all phases of Carpentry, Siding, Window replacement, Door replacement, Floors, Sheet rock, Taping, and Painting
• Familiarity and proven experience with the preparation of wood, composite materials, masonry painting of exterior and interior structures
• Replacing and repairing of screens, office furniture assembly, repair of furniture and ceiling tiles
• Experience in other trades is a plus

REQUIRED EDUCATION

• High School graduate or

GED PREFERRED EDUCATION

• Associates degree or trades related license preferred
• Familiarity with SchoolDude
• OSHA10
• Lift Certification
• 5-10 years’ experience in Carpentry, Painting and General Construction is preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• The work performed by Maintenance workers can be physical at times and requires 8 hours or more of physical activity including but not limited to performing the following tasks
• Bend, lift, kneel, reach and perform other movements to fully perform maintenance tasks
• Read and understand employment-related safety information
• Lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
• Work indoors and outdoors where temperatures will range from below zero to one hundred degrees
• Walk and work on a variety of uneven and slippery surfaces
• Operate related machinery
