Job Description
Responsible for the routine semi-skilled to skilled manual work in theDPW including digging and filling trenches, grading and loaming, andother duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under thesupervision of the Highway Foreperson, performs tasks involving manuallabor requiring the highest degree of skill in the construction andrepair of streets, sidewalks, curbing, culverts, manholes, plumbingwork, and painting. Includes work requiring skill in excavating,bracing, grading, spreading stone, raking asphalt, setting curbing andfoundations and markers; and in connection therewith to perform tasksrequiring an ordinary degree of skill, and to perform the work of alaborer such as pick and shovel work required in digging and fillingtrenches, grading and loaming; cutting and mowing grass with hand orpower mower and associated ground keeping tasks and to incidentallysupervise the work of a group of (not more than 10) laborers engaged intasks involving manual labor not requiring a high degree of skill. Toperform such tasks as may be assigned during snow removal operations.
Heavy lifting is required. .
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
MinimumRequirements:
High School or GED Must Hold License:
Valid Class DDriver’s License and a Class A or B (CDL) Commercial Driver’s License.

Indoor and outdoorenvironments with a wide range of weather conditions, exposure tovibrations and noise; work on slippery or uneven surfaces, work withelectrical energy; work with and around heavy machinery; work in or nearvehicle traffic; exposure to dust and fumes from motorized equipment;possible exposure to toxic chemicals; irregular working hours forinclement weather situations and other circumstances.
PHYSICALCONDITIONS
Essential functions may require maintaining the physicalcondition necessary for sitting, standing, and walking for extendedperiods; moderate to heavy lifting and carrying which includes theability to lift at least one hundred pounds; pulling, reaching, bending,climbing, and kneeling; use of fingers, both hands and legs required;must be able to distinguish colors and operate assigned vehicle
