The ideal candidate will assist licensed vocational instructors in the shop area. Knowledge of the competencies and skills required of students in the Building and Property Maintenance-related area is preferred. The ideal candidate should possess the ability to work with all students by assisting the approved vocational-technical instructor in delivering quality training to prepare the students to meet the demands of working as aspiring professionals.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist in implementing a program of study that meets students’ individual needs, interests, and abilities.2. Assist in delivering effective instruction with a strong focus on the Massachusetts Vocational Technical Curriculum, Building & Property Frameworks, and performance standards to students of varying abilities and skill levels.3. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.4. Responsible for effective classroom management/discipline techniques and behavior reinforcement.5. Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.

Work is performed primarily in a standard school environment, including classrooms, offices, hallways, cafeterias, gymnasiums, outdoor areas, and other school facilities.

The position may involve frequent interaction with students, staff, parents, and the general public.

The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate, but may become loud during school events, assemblies, or student activities.

The employee may be exposed to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and cleaning agents, and is expected to follow all school safety and health protocols, including universal precautions.

Depending on the role, the employee may be required to stand, walk, bend, lift, or carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

The employee may be required to supervise students in outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, or inclement weather.

This position may require occasional travel between school buildings or to off-site locations for training, meetings, or school functions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. OSHA-10 credential or willingness to obtain upon hire.2. Experience in the areas of building and property maintenance.3. High School Diploma.4. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Massachusetts Chapter 74 Licensure in Building & Property Maintenance.2. Industry-related certifications and/or credentials related to the program area.3. SEI Endorsement.4. Previous experience working with students in a high school setting.

WORK YEAR

Full-time, permanent position, school year (186 days).

SALARY:

To be determined according to the District individual contract.
