Assistant Caretaker/Buildings & Grounds Maine Coast Waldorf School 57 Desert Road, Freeport, ME 04032 Caretaker/Buildings & Grounds Assistant To begin mid-August, 2025 Posted until until filled. Join our team at Maine Coast Waldorf School for the upcoming 2025/26 school year! We’re seeking a warm and capable individual to join our administrative team to work with the lead Caretaker, office managers, and cleaning staff. Ideal candidates will have some carpentry skills and a willingness to lend a helping hand wherever needed.
Responsibilities:
Core working hours are from 8am to 3pm, Monday through Friday. Some evening/weekend event support will be required. Overtime is available as needed. Assisting in the care and maintenance of all buildings, grounds and equipment including: maintaining buildings, walkways, parking areas, playground equipment/materials, fields, trails and gardens; painting, general cleaning, and simple carpentry repairs; stocking supplies and maintaining order in storage facilities; and providing support for major events of the school. The hours will be approximately half for caretaking and half for cleaning. Participate actively in all-school festivals, including professional development days throughout the year in addition to a week of professional development in August and June. Maintain regular and effective communication with colleagues to support administrative and overall school community cohesion. Ability and willingness to work outdoors as needed.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of general repairs, maintenance, cleaning techniques, and other buildings-and-ground-related skills; some carpentry skills and ease with use of hand tools and power tools, tractors, lawn mowers, etc. Warmth working with others and a commitment to personal and professional growth. Possess flexibility, versatility, enthusiasm, punctuality, and creativity, bringing energy and dedication to this role. Must already be authorized to work in the U.S.A.
Compensation and Benefits:
$23/hour. 80% tuition remission for enrolled students and additional benefits available.
