Groundskeeper Grounds Maintenance Worker:

(Togus National Cemetery) Seeking and individual with experience in grounds maintenance and the interest in working/maintaining a National Cemetery to the standards of the National Cemetery Administration(NCA) and Lander Group’s Expectations.

Scope of Responsibility:

The role of Grounds Maintenance personnel is that of a highly motivated individual working full-time (Seasonal) outside in all weather conditions to assist in day-to-day activities maintaining a National Cemetery.

Position Duties:

The duties of the position include, but are not limited to the following. This is not meant to be an exhaustive list but rather to provide a general outline of the expectations of the position. Position is a Grounds Maintenance Laborer, whom will assist the Supervisor, Duties including: mowing/push mowing, trimming, edging, general grounds clean-up, cleaning off roads of debris or grass clippings, headstone maintenance, Fall leaf clean-up, stick pick-up, cleaning of headstones, assisting with fertilization, over-seeding and aeration of turf. Other duties may be assigned to assist in maintaining of this National Shrine (Togus National Cemetery). Clothing requirements – long pants, buttoned shirt with minimum 4 inch sleeve, buttoned from waist to neck maintained in a clean and neat appearance. Sturdy safety-toe work boots with in good condition; Maintain clean personal hygiene; maintain proper decorum due the respect in a National Cemetery with no profane or abusive language. Use of alcohol or drugs is prohibited during working hours or on the premises. No smoking is allowed on the Federal property. Safety supplies will be provided, such as safety glasses, ear muffs or ear plugs, certain gloves, and rain gear. Be a team player and good communication with the supervisor. Orientation and job training will be provided.

Please Note:

This job entails labor intensive work. The seasonal job is respectfully from April to November. The duration may be subject to change depending on work load tasks.

Credentials Needed Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years experience in commercial landscape maintenance preferred. Minimum of 3 years experience in operation of support equipment, self-propelled push mowers, trimmers, edgers, back-pack blowers preferred. Must have a drivers license. Preference to individuals with prior Cemetery Grounds Maintenance Experience. Principals only. Recruiters, please don’t contact this job poster.
